Android App Instructions
Generate PDFs of your text message conversations directly on your Android phone — no backup files, no desktop app, and no computer required.
Video Tutorial
Step 1: Download the App
Download and install TextExhibit from the Google Play Store:
Step 2: Grant Permissions
When you first open the app, it will ask for permission to access your text messages. Grant the requested permissions and wait for the app to load your conversations.
Step 3: Select Conversations
Select the conversation(s) you want to export to PDFs from the list, then tap “Configure Export”.
Step 4: Set Display Names
If you want display names to appear differently than the names in your Contacts app, you can modify them here. This is cosmetic only — it will not change the contact names on your phone.
Step 5: Set Date Range (Optional)
If you only need messages from a specific time period, set a date range to limit the export. Otherwise, all messages in the selected conversations will be included.
Step 6: Add Device Info (Optional)
You can include your device name and serial number in the footer of every page of the PDF. To find your serial number:
- Tap “Find in Settings” — this opens your phone’s About settings
- Scroll down and tap Model
- Long press on Serial Number and tap Copy
- Go back to the TextExhibit app and paste it into the Serial Number text box
Step 7: Choose Output Folder
Tap “Choose…” to pick an output folder on your device where the PDFs will be saved.
Step 8: Export
Tap “Export” and wait for the process to complete.
Step 9: View & Share Your PDFs
Once the export finishes:
- Tap “Open Folder” to view the generated PDFs directly on your device
- Tap “Share to Drive” to share a single
.zipfile containing all generated PDFs and extracted media to Google Drive or other destinations
Free Trial & Unlocking
The Android app starts in free trial mode with watermarks, redacted text messages, and a limit of 3 exports. To unlock full capabilities, use the in-app purchase option — this is a one-time purchase that permanently removes all limitations.
