  • New Back Up iPhone… button on the File tab: step-by-step instructions for backing up with Finder, Apple Devices, or iTunes, including the reminder to tap Trust on the iPhone. TextExhibit detects when the backup finishes, loads it automatically, and continues to the Conversations tab.
  • Before you back up again, TextExhibit now reminds you to archive the existing backup. A new backup replaces the computer’s previous backup of the same iPhone, and if the iPhone now keeps fewer messages (for example, with Messages in iCloud), the older messages would otherwise be lost.
  • The backup list now shows the date of each backup’s most recent completion. Previously it could show the date the backup folder was first created.
  • Fixed backup folders opened with Browse… disappearing from the backup list after a rescan.

  • Added a separate signed and notarized installer for Intel Macs running macOS 13 or later.
  • Conversation selection is easier: click anywhere in a conversation row to select or deselect it.

  • iPhone Excel transcripts now include Message Events and expanded Attachments sheets with local and UTC timestamps, message identifiers, file availability, byte sizes, SHA-256 hashes, and available EXIF/GPS metadata.
  • Improved compatibility with older iPhone backup schemas, and ZIP exports now include generic file attachments from the files folder.
  • Added configurable PDF splitting modes with safety cap of 5,000 messages max per PDF. Users can now override the default behavior determining when we split into monthly PDFs.
